ABOUT THE ROLE
Vertex Control Systems is hiring an HVAC / BMS Sales Representative to grow our controls and service business across Louisiana and the Gulf South. You'll work directly with facility managers, property owners, mechanical contractors, and consulting engineers to scope BAS upgrades, controls retrofits, Niagara N4 migrations, energy management projects, and recurring service agreements. This is a consultative, technical sale — you don't need to be an engineer, but you need to understand how buildings run, what controls cost, and why an open BACnet platform beats a proprietary one. Compensation is base plus uncapped commission; strong reps land between $120K and $160K all-in.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop new business with commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial accounts in Louisiana and the Gulf South
- Walk buildings, identify controls upgrade opportunities, and scope retrofits with the engineering team
- Build proposals for BAS installation, Niagara migrations, BACnet integration, energy management, commissioning, and mechanical service contracts
- Maintain relationships with facility managers, property managers, GCs, mechanical contractors, and design engineers
- Manage pipeline, forecast accurately, and own the deal from first walkthrough through signed contract
- Represent Vertex at industry events, ASHRAE chapter meetings, BOMA, and trade shows
- Partner with marketing on targeted outreach and account-based campaigns
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3+ years of B2B technical sales experience — HVAC, building automation, mechanical service, or commercial construction strongly preferred
- Comfortable walking a mechanical room and having a credible technical conversation about AHUs, chillers, controls, and energy use
- Track record of hitting or exceeding quota, with examples of deals you sourced and closed
- Excellent written and verbal communication — you'll be writing proposals and presenting to ownership
- Self-directed; able to manage your own pipeline, calendar, and CRM hygiene without daily supervision
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Louisiana 3-4 days a week
NICE TO HAVE
- +Existing relationships with Louisiana facility managers, property managers, or mechanical contractors
- +Background as a controls technician, engineer, or project manager who transitioned to sales
- +Familiarity with Niagara N4, BACnet, and the major BAS product lines
- +Experience selling service agreements and recurring revenue
