BACnet (Building Automation and Control Network) is an open communication protocol that lets controllers, sensors, and software from different manufacturers talk to each other. If you have equipment from multiple vendors, or plan to expand your system over time, BACnet gives you flexibility and avoids proprietary lock-in.

DDC stands for Direct Digital Control. Unlike older pneumatic systems that use compressed air to operate valves and dampers, DDC uses microprocessor-based controllers with digital communication.
